22+ Organizations That Exist to Stop Human Trafficking (& Counting)

But not everything is hopeless when it comes to the subject of human trafficking. Fortunately, there are a ton of organizations that exist to combat it. Below is a list of more than 22 organizations and government entities (in alphabetical order) that combat human trafficking.

Human trafficking generates a profit of roughly $150 billion a year, globally. Nearly two-thirds of that profit come from commercial sexual exploitation. About $50 billion comes from labor trafficking.

These numbers are pretty shocking, right?

The reality is that if human trafficking didn’t make money, people wouldn’t exploit others.

Due to the high return on investment, evil and despicable people traffic others anywhere and everywhere across the globe. To make matters worse, traffickers and their victims can be anyone. Men, women, and children of any race, any age, and in any condition become prey for traffickers.

So what is human trafficking?

Human trafficking is the practice of exploiting others for sexual or labor servitude. They use people like commodities or objects.

These traffickers use tactics such as…

  • Withholding identification, work authorization, or travel documents
  • Demanding repayment with alleged or real debts
  • Using/threatening to use violence
  • Not paying at all for the victim’s work

But not everything is hopeless when it comes to the subject of human trafficking. Fortunately, there are a ton of organizations that exist to combat it.

Below is a list of more than 22 organizations and government entities that combat human trafficking.

We’ve designated the following list of organizations as “preferred” because we’ve connected and/or partnered with them. In other words, we believe in and are confident in their efforts associated with combatting human trafficking.

National Human Trafficking Training Academy (NHTTA)

NHTTA exists to set the standard for human trafficking awareness training and instruction.

Anti-Trafficking International (ATI)

ATI is a globally recognized conglomerate that dedicates itself to eradicating human trafficking through uniquely targeted programs.

The organization partners with community leaders to increase awareness and teach you how to intercept trafficking as early as possible.

Fairfax County School Board recognizes ATI’s prevention curriculum as the “gold standard”. Rotary International also recognized ATI as Non-Profit of the Year in 2019.

Safe House Project

The Safe House Project is a non-profit organization located in Virginia. Their mission is to increase survivor identification beyond 1% through education. They provide emergency services and placement to survivors. The Safe House Project ensures every survivor has access to safe housing and holistic care by accelerating capacity and development across the US.

The Safe House Project has three programs.

First, their education programs teach the public how they can spot, report, and prevent trafficking in the US.

Second, the survivor empowerment program helps survivors reclaim their life through emergency services and safe house placement.

Finally, Their safe housing program increases the number of quality safe houses through funding, mentorship, and certification to provide pathways to healing for survivors.

Collaborative to End Human Trafficking

Headquartered in Cleveland, OH, the Collaborative to End Human Trafficking provides programs for…

  • Greater Cleveland Coordinated Response

It brings together local professionals and faith leaders to generate support. Thus, also leading to lasting systemic change. Its goal is to advocate awareness on a community-wide level to make Ohio safer.

RAHAB Ministries

RAHAB Ministries is a faith-based ministry that’s devoted to rescuing and restoring trafficking victims in Northeast Ohio.

They provide several different services to help including…

  • Transitional Housing
  • Minor Community-based Programming

Its transitional housing program, The Oaks, provides sustainable housing, case management and mentorship to survivors. The program exists to help survivors build healthy social support and become financially independent. It includes a network of community members such as churches, landlords, businesses, philanthropists, social service providers and mentors.

Operation Rose

As anyone keeping up with national-level news will tell you, many states now mandate that hotels annually train their staff on human trafficking awareness.

Founded in 2021, Operation Rose actively educates, prevents and combats human trafficking in Tennessee and nationally.

Operation Rose is one of the first non-profit organization’s to specialize in hospitality awareness training. But, it’s also diversifying its in-person training offering to the educational sector.

In short order, the non-profit has gained media attention for its efforts.

3Strands Global Foundation

3Strands Global Foundation is a non-profit located in California. They work with communities to combat human trafficking through ...

  • Prevention education

  • Survivor support

Their training curriculum works with educators and adults to identify and respond to signs of human trafficking. It equips participants with the ability to build and put in place a reporting protocol. The curriculum teaches students how to keep themselves and others safe from human trafficking.

3Strands Global Foundation’s Employ + Empower team provides wrap-around support to prevent the exploitation and re-exploitation of survivors.

This program helps serve…

  • People at risk of exploitation
  • Those who face employment or education opportunity barriers

They also host awareness events and collaborate with political leaders. They mobilize communities to advocate for freedom.

Adaptive Ops

Adaptive OPS is a 501c3 non-profit located in Utah that focuses on identifying human trafficking.

They shed light on…

  • Human trafficking-related activities
  • Document key information related to the illegal industry
  • Develop their findings into intelligence

They do these things to provide evidence for law enforcement and court proceedings.

The organization aids in searches for missing adults and children. Adaptive OPS will take part in and coordinate community searches for missing children. Adaptive OPS works with law enforcement to provide recovery services to runaway children. This includes safely transporting a child home or to a youth treatment organization selected by the child’s legal guardians.

Adaptive OPS uses specialized techniques and licensing to hunt down wanted pedophile fugitives. The organization will proceed to arrest them and/or coordinate the arrest depending on the state.

CAST - Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking

CAST is the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking, a non-profit located in Los Angeles, California. CAST works to put an end to modern slavery and human trafficking through its services for survivors.

CAST is also a platform to advocate for groundbreaking policies and legislation.

In the last 20 years, this organization helped support thousands of survivors.

This support includes…

Through these services, CAST helped survivors overcome their traumatic past and become leaders in human trafficking public awareness. This is to put an end to this illegal criminal industry.

Center for Human Trafficking Awareness

The Center for Human Trafficking Awareness is an organization based in Florida. They are a hub to connect the greater community to human trafficking-related…

The Center provides both in-person trainings to the Southeastern US and online resources. They partner with the Regional Community Policing Institute (RCPI) and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) to provide tuition-free training.

Destiny Rescue

Destiny Rescue is a non-profit located in Indiana. It's dedicated to rescuing children from both sexual exploitation and human trafficking. The organization sends agents to intervene in child exploitation. Those agents also help children reintegrate back into their communities once rescued.

Destiny Rescue operates all over the world. They operate rescue, reintegration, and prevention programs across the globe, including 3 counties in Latin America, 1 country in Africa, and 6 countries in Asia.

They raise funds and awareness in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.

Love146

Love146 is an organization located in Connecticut focused on the prevention of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. They work with children affected by trafficking and have initiatives to prevent future trafficking.

They have survivor care programs in the US, the UK, and the Philippines. In the US, Love146 supports child trafficking victims and advocates for their rights. They also teach youth how to protect themselves from traffickers and exploitation.

In the UK, the organization supports youth trafficked into the country as they recover and gain independence. Love146 operates two safe houses in the Philippines, providing holistic care for trafficked children.

Love146 reaches thousands of youth in the US with an education that equips them to recognize the signs of human trafficking.

Male Survivor

Male Survivor is a non-profit located in New Jersey that focuses on male victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking. Their commitment to the prevention, treatment and elimination of all forms of sexual misconduct of males helps males all over the US. This includes all forms of sexual victimization of adolescent boys and adult men.

Male Survivor accomplishes these goals through public education, advocating treatment for victims, and offering help to other organizations developing prevention programs.

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is a 501c3 non-profit located in Virginia. Their mission is to help find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation, and prevent the victimization of children.

NCMEC works with victims, families, the private sector, law enforcement, and the community to assist with ending human trafficking. This includes…

  • Preventing child abductions
  • Recovering missing children
  • Providing services to deter and combat child sexual exploitation

National Human Trafficking Hotline

The National Human Trafficking Hotline is an organization operated by Polaris. The hotline connects victims and survivors of both sex and labor trafficking with services and supports to get help.

The NHTH collects tips about potential situations of sex and labor trafficking. Upon receiving these tips, they report the information to the appropriate authorities. The hotline exists as a toll-free phone number, SMS text line, and live online chat. All three are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Nomi Network

Nomi Network is a non-profit organization located in New York. They combat human trafficking by creating pathways to safe employment. They empower women and girls to break the cycles of slavery in their families and communities.

They do this with their domestic work and international activities.

Their domestic work in the US includes providing trauma-informed workforce readiness services to adolescents in the juvenile justice system.

Nomi Network’s international work combats human trafficking through four programs. Their workforce development program trains and develops women to remove barriers to employment and increase financial stability. They provide life skills training, sector-specific training, and job placement.

Their fashion incubator program provides advanced fashion and production skills with the Nomi International Fashion Training school. The courses offered help entrepreneurs hone their craft. They provide work for survivors and individuals at risk of trafficking.

The Nomi Network Ethical Supply Chains program connects brands and consumers to ethical supply chains. The program combats exploitative practices within the fashion industry. These bad practices fuel modern slavery.  By transforming the supply chain, Nomi can help restore power and dignity to vulnerable people.

The Adolescent Girls Empowerment program provides girls with a safe place to socialize and learn skills in addition to their existing schooling. This helps them pursue a future free of early marriage or forced labor in their communities. Girls in the program learn their rights and become advocates for change within their communities.

Office for Victims of Crime

The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) is a component of the Office of Justice Programs in the US Department of Justice. The OVC works to enhance the US’s capacity to assist crime victims. They provide leadership in changing attitudes, policies, and practices that will promote justice and healing for all kinds of victims.

They strengthen the services for victims as a response to human trafficking through…

Office on Trafficking in Persons

The Office on Trafficking in Persons is a subsection of the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Their commitment to preventing human trafficking helps victims across the US. They make sure all trafficking victims have access to the services they need, regardless of the type of trafficking endured.

The OTP offers blog posts, featured resources, the opportunity to submit tips, and news alerts for the greater community.

Polaris

Polaris is a non-profit organization in charge of the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC). The organization hosts the National Human Trafficking Hotline (listed above) and engages with community members in local and national grassroots efforts.

Polaris engages with government leaders and other organizations to protect victims’ rights. They also offer direct outreach and services to victims. The organization provides the public with information on human trafficking.

Through the National Training and Technical Assistance Program, the Polaris Project offers training about human trafficking. This includes in-person and online options.

Reintegra

Reintegra is a non-profit working all over North America, including the United States, Mexico, and Costa Rica. They combat human trafficking in three ways: prevention, restoration, and reintegration.

Through their prevention efforts, Reintegra advocates and informs the public about human trafficking through survivor voices and stories. The survivors in Reintegra’s program share with others. In turn, this helps inform the public about the atrocities of human trafficking.

Reintegra’s restoration initiatives happen through two partnerships. The organization donates and provides scholarship grants to two safe homes that rehabilitate vulnerable populations. These safe houses work with victims of sex trafficking in Mexico City, Mexico, and Costa Rica.

Reintegra’s reintegration efforts support survivors as they rebuild their lives. They offer a family structure of love and encouragement to foster healing. To do this, the organization provides financial, emotional, and psychological resources to help with restoration and heal.

Shared Hope

Shared Hope International works to bring an end to sex trafficking. Located in Vancouver, Washington, the non-profit accomplishes their through a three-pronged approach…

The organization has three prevention programs. Their training program works to equip first responders and community members to identify warning signs of human trafficking. They teach intervention techniques to rescue victims.

Their awareness program seeks to inform people about child slavery. More specifically they initiate campaigns that raise the alarm in communities. Their collaboration program shares its expertise and resources to combat human trafficking.

Under Shared Hope’s restorative initiative are programs that support homes, medical care, education, vocational training, therapy, and outreach/intervention services for survivors.

Violent Crimes Against Children

The FBI’s Violent Crimes Against Children program has a mission to…
